Greek stocks stabilise in sluggish trade on Wednesday

Greek stocks stabilised in sluggish trade on Wednesday, after a rollercoaster ride that saw stocks lose and gain roughly 10 pct earlier in the week. The Athens bourse registered record lows in turnover for this year.

The composite index of the market ended marginally up at 622.72 points, gaining just 0.16 pct in a day when stocks fluctuated by no more than 19 points during the session. Turnover hit record lows at 22.29 million euros.

The Large Cap index rose 0.30 pct and the Mid Cap index ended 0.14 pct up.

The highest gains among blue chip stocks were for National Bank of Greece (4.23 pct), PPC (3.96 pct), Motor Oil (3.59 pct) and Grivalia Properties (2.41 pct). The biggest losses were for Titan (4.53 pct), Terna Energiaki (3.47 pct), Hellenic Exchanges (2.71 pct) and Eurobank (2.33 pct).

The market sectors that made the biggest gains in the session were Oil (2.22 pct), Foods (1.85 pct) and Technology (1.55 pct), while the greatest losses were registered in Construction (3.36 pct), Financial Services (2.70 pct) and Health (2.56 pct).

 

Broadly, advancers led decliners by 50 to 38 with another 17 issues unchanged. AEGEK (20.00 pct), Kathimerini (20.00 pct) and Lavipharm (13.33 pct) were top gainers, while Inform Lycos (15.34 pct), G.E. Dimitriou (14.29 pct), and Forthnet (13.79) were top losers.
