ANEL spokeswoman: 'Elections in Greece were unavoidable'
The elections in Greece were unavoidable after the breakup within SYRIZA following the approval of the country’s agreement with its lenders, Independent Greeks (ANEL) spokeswoman Marina Chrysoveloni said in an article in a Greek paper on Thursday.
“Elections were unavoidable after the political and psychological breakup within SYRIZA and the toppling of the government from [Panagiotis] Lafazanis’ fraction for reasons clearly obsessional,” she wrote to Efimeritha ton Syntakton.
She said that on a second level, citizens are invited to decide with the elections whether “it was a good choice to ‘capitulate’ and make a forced compromise, or whether they preferred a complete bankruptcy and return to the drachma.”
