Greek trade deficit down 19.3 pct in Jan-Sept

Greece's trade deficit shrank by 24.2 pct in September and by 19.3 pct in the nine-month period this year compared with the same periods in 2014, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Friday.

The statistics service, in a monthly report, said that the value of import-arrivals totaled 3.563 billion euros in September, down 18.3 pct from September 2014 (excluding oil products the value of imports fell by 3.4 pct). The value of export-deliveries totaled 2.012 billion euros in September, down 13 pct from the same month last year (excluding oil products the value of exports grew 1.9 pct).

The country's trade deficit totaled 1.551 billion euros in September, down 24.2 pct from September 2014 (excluding oil products the trade deficit shrank by 8.7 pct).

In the January-September period, the value of imports totaled 31.911 billion euros, down 10.9 pct from last year (excluding oil products imports fell by 2.0 pct). The value of exports totaled 19.271 billion euros, down 4.4 pct from the same period last year (excluding oil products exports grew by 11.1 pct). The country's trade deficit shrank to 12.640 billion euros in the January-September period, down 19.3 pct from last year (excluding oil products the trade deficit fell by 15.5 pct).
