First residence protection a 'thorn' in the negotiations
The protection of the first residence (from foreclosures) remains a problem in the negotiations with the creditors, Economy Minister George Stathakis said in statements to Real FM on Monday.

Asked if a positive outcome from the negotiations is possible, he said: "Progress has been made in all sectors, but there are still some pending issues. The main problem is the protection of the first residence with legal means which remains open."
Asked whether a solution can be found with political negotiation, Stathakis underlined: "I think that the recent negotiation with the creditors has been concluded. It could open again tomorrow. So it is a political decision that needs to be taken."
Stathakis noted that both parties are close to a compromise on 100 installment debt settlement. "A compromising solution has been found or will be found ... We are very close to the solution."
